Main research interests:
Law and its influence on the development of the service sector and its workers. Research has been undertaken in the context of the education and the leisure sectors. The majority of the work has focused on two areas: The Duty of care of teachers and leisure managers to provide for the Health and Safety of children; Law as an input in the training of teachers and leisure managers. School trips has been an area of particular interest, looking at whether current law is appropriate for the undertaking
Main teaching interests:
Law for the leisure manager and trainee teacher (PGCE) - Making law relevant and coherent to students following another career path is a challenge. I have joined the Association of Law Teachers; the Higher Education Academy; the Education Law Association and Leisure Studies Association in order to draw on experience in other areas and develop this work. Tourism: having worked in the public and private sectors the emphasis of my teaching is on the skills needed to work in the sector and recognise the issues that it faces in the 21st century. International experience: Visiting lecturer at Kurukshetra University India; International Paper given at International Safety Conference in Sweden.
