Lecturer in Counselling and Educational Psychology
Dr Clare Lennie is an experienced teacher and counsellor. She taught Psychology at Oldham Sixth Form College for ten years where she also worked as a student counsellor, before moving to Bolton University to lecture on their Post Graduate Certificate in Education programme. She began working at the University in 2003 and her present post of Lecturer in Counselling and Educational Psychology reflects her background in each of these areas where she works mainly with Doctorate and Masters students.
Clare has a particular interest in learning in groups, indeed her Ph.D. research looked at The Role of Personal Development Groups in Counsellor Training. She is interested in pluralistic approaches to research using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. Clare has a commitment to student support and is currently researching the extent to which trainee teachers are prepared for this role in their PGCE programmes. Additionally, she is Academic Adviser to The Moscow School in Russia for their MA in Counselling.

Pastoral care in educational and the training of teachers in counselling and student support. Personal Development Groups in Counsellor Training.
Main teaching interests:
Emotional care of learners in education, research methods in education and counselling particularly qualitative methods and mixed approaches.
