CFAS has extensive experience at international and national levels in all aspects of the development and evaluation of curriculum and assessment research. The philosophy underpinning all CFAS's work is the linking of teaching, learning and assessment. CFAS has a well established infrastructure and network of experienced consultants to support large scale national and international research in curriculum and assessment issues.
The Centre has a consistent track record over the last 19 years of externally sponsored and independent research. Through our research and consultancy activities the Centre has long experience of working with partners as diverse as The World Bank, Department for International Development (DfID), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), Esmee Fairbairn Foundation Charitable Trust, British Council, Department for Children, Schools and Families (DfCS), Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA), the Learning and Skills Council and the Teacher Training (now Training and Development) Agency (TTA).
CFAS has extensive experience in international system design for teaching, learning and assessment within a range of countries. Recent projects include developing a lower secondary education programme in Jamaica (part of the ROSE project), contributions to national assessment reform projects in Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, Cyprus, Botswana, Jordan and Bahrain. CFAS has developed an integrated teaching, learning and assessment manual for the Gulf Arab States Education Research Council (GASERC) on behalf of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Yemen and Kuwait.
CFAS is involved in the National Education Assessment System (NEAS) development in Pakistan and supplies technical assistance to the project. Recently, CFAS has completed a World Bank Primary teacher development project in Vietnam which focused on quality assurance of training provision and teacher training standards.
The Centre also offers individual programmes for students in relation to Teaching, Learning and Assessment issues. Masters and Doctoral graduates from CFAS now populate diverse national examinations and assessment boards from the Caribbean through Southern Africa, the Middle East, Malaysia and Pakistan.
CFAS has recently tailored workshops on a variety of themes for domestic and international bodies including interests in Russia, UAE, Vietnam and Malaysia.
