Inclusion and educational diversity
It is widely accepted that the School has the most significant programme of research on inclusion in the country. Staff have extensive links with researchers in other universities, both in the UK and overseas, and are frequently invited by government organisations to bid for commissioned research. There are also strong connections with policy makers and practitioners in the North West, and at a national and international level. Members of the group are internationally known, are regularly invited to give presentations at conferences around the world, and act as consultants to organisations such as UNESCO, Unicef and Save the Children. A significant number of projects have been funded by DfES which not only gives our researchers access to very large data sets but also ensures that our work will be used to inform policy.
Within this area there are three main stands of research activity which whilst they overlap and link they have their own distinctive strengths. The three sub themes are:
