Understanding and developing leadership practice in Education
A range of projects in the UK and internationally have been taking place focusing on gathering empirical evidence about school leadership and models of practice. A data base is being built which supports ongoing analysis of the link between leadership, curriculum and educational assessment. Examples of current projects include:
Subject leadership in secondary schools in England.
The Monitoring Curriculum and Assessment Project is funded by the QCA, and is a longitudinal survey of subject leadership in a national sample of secondary schools from 1997.
Leadership models in primary schools in Vietnam.
This Project is funded by the World Bank and funding has been provided to develop conceptual frameworks for leadership training in Vietnam.
Leadership and assessment in Pakistan.
This Project is funded by the World Bank and the focus is on conceptualising and developing leadership for the national assessment system in schools.
Professional development in English Schools.
This is a longitudinal Project focusing on models of departmental professional development in a national sample of primary and secondary schools in England.
